Material Handling for a 1st shift working 6:00am-2:00pm Monday-Friday with additional overtime as needed. This position will be responsible for all material handling functions with duties including receiving raw materials or finished goods, gathering parts, raw materials, gathering finished orders for movement to outbound shipping areas and completing data entry or paperwork as needed. Verifying that items are correctly labeled and free of defects, utilizing forklift, pallet jacks, hand carts or dollies to move material and performing housekeeping tasks including sweeping, removing scarp, pallets and cardboard as needed. A working knowledge of MS Outlook, Excel and Word along with MRP/ERP Systems is preferred. Experience with PLEX, GLovia and Edibar is a plus. Previous forklift experience is required with experience in inventory control functions being preferred. Must be detail oriented with good organizational skills, have reliable transportation and able to lift 40lbs continuously throughout the shift. Temp to hire position starting out at $15.75/hr. The Material Handler is responsible for unloading coils off of trucks using an overhead crane or forklift and matching the bill of lading against the work order or receiving report. Checking work orders to determine if coil is to be packaged for shipment or processed further in house. Pulling coils off the coil car or turnstile, weighing coil and recording correct weight and coil number, both on the coil and the appropriate paperwork. Receiving paint, solvent and other plant supplies and verifying consignee, condition, and count before accepting or unloading. Moving coils using the overhead crane or other vehicles into the proper inventory or staged location. Packaging coils, banding with edge protectors, banding type, banding placement and number of bands and plastic or paper over-wrapping. Operating a coil up-ender or coil car to fulfill packaging requirements. Loading finished coils onto trucks for shipment after verifying coil number and weight against bill of lading and that all customer packaging/size requirements have been followed. Seeing that plastic wrap and cardboard is placed around the coil or bands to protect from damage during shipment. Staging shipments in an orderly fashion to facilitate efficient shipment of product. Using overhead crane or forklift to place coils on outgoing trucks for delivery to customers. Forwarding paperwork to Production & Inventory Control. Ensuring proper handling/receiving procedures of any hazardous materials have been maintained in order to protect from liability for improper/illegal shipping or receiving of hazardous materials.
