Get Specific

Hiring managers use your resume to learn as much about you as possible, so there’s no room for vague language. For example, if you simply state that you have “computer skills,” that really doesn’t tell them very much. Instead, you might say you’re proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop.

You want your resume to leave no room for interpretation because if the reader has to guess, they’re going to assume you don’t have the skills they need.

Quantify Your Achievements

You’re a talented professional with some serious accomplishments to your name. As noted above, it’s important to really spell out these achievements, as being ambiguous will literally get you nowhere.

For example, instead of saying you set the record for sales at your company last year, note that you achieved $250,000 in sales. Or, if you streamlined a process that saved the company money, get specific and say that it cut costs by $50,000 last year.
